    Position Overview:

    PSYCHOLOGIST II − PSYCHOLOGY CONSULTANT

    Temporary, Full-Time Position

    We are seeking an individual with a clinical, counseling or rehabilitation psychology background for the position of Psychologist II (Psychology Consultant). Reporting to a Service Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the consultation to WCB personnel on the psychological management of claims. Other responsibilities include: reviewing claims and making appropriate referrals to community psychologists when necessary; contacting community psychologists, rehabilitation service providers, and clients; and monitoring of the quality of the services provided.

    Responsibilities:

    • Psychological consultation to other WCB departments and personnel in regards to management of claims.
    • Regular review of any service difficulties and corrective action.
    • Critical Incident Intervention.
    • Monitoring of subcontracted psychological services and ongoing liaison with community providers.
    • Referrals for community psychological services and pain clinic treatment plus ongoing liaison with community providers.
    • Assist in the development of best practice guidelines, input into policy for psychological consequences related to a compensable injury. Provide in-services to the WCB as required.
    • May have some involvement in WCB committee work related to management of psychological injuries.
    • Works as a member of team of psychological consultants with some supervisory responsibility for a Psychological Assistant and occasional graduate/undergraduate students.

    Qualifications:

    The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Psychology, registration in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists and completion of an internship from a Canadian Psychological Association accredited facility or equivalent. As well, significant experience in an interdisciplinary rehabilitation setting involving the assessment and treatment of a variety of disorders is required. Research and psychological consultant experience is an asset.

    Salary:

    $100,008.24 to $130,173.60 per annum (In accordance with the Collective Agreement with HSAA)

    Note:

    This is a temporary, full-time position for approximately one year with the possibility of extension and/or permanency. This job will be posted until a suitable candidate is selected.

    Security Clearance

    Final external candidates for this position will be required to undergo a security clearance. Internal candidates may also be required to undergo a security clearance as per the WCB Security Clearance guideline.
