The Opportunity

The Recreation & Parks team is currently seeking talented and motivated individuals to develop and lead over 100 fun, safe, and inclusive Spring Break and Summer Day camps for children ages 4-12 years- old at Servus Place, City of St. Albert
clubhouses, and various outdoor park and playground spaces throughout the City.

These leaders have experience, and are interested in activities such as sports, biking, cooking/baking, archery, art and crafts, gaming, puzzle-solving, preschool-aged activities, and outdoor recreation. Leaders are primarily partnered to plan and co-lead camps based on their availability and activity interest.

Experience mentoring youth is an asset as our leaders are also role models and mentors to our over 40 youth Leaders in Training who play an active part in camp support and leadership development.

Leaders may also be provided the opportunity to pick-up additional casual shifts on weekends and evenings supervising drop-in programs and leading children’s parties.

Qualifications

• Standard First Aid/CPR-C with AED certification is required
• Experience planning, leading and supervising activities with children
• Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills are necessary to address and resolve customer inquiries and concerns
• Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills
• HIGH FIVE ®PHCD and/or Sport Certifications and NCCP FMS Certification are an asset


ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
These positions are in receipt of Canada Summer Jobs funding and therefore to be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria outlined by the Canada Summer Jobs program:
• Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
• Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the immigration and refugee protection act for the duration of the employment and,
• Have a valid social insurance number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations

Hours of Work

• Weekday and weekend shifts (working up to 44 hours per week)
• Summer Camp Training from June 24- 27
• Canada Day July 1
• Summer Camps July 2- August 29, 2025
• Spring Break Camps (March 24-28) (optional)

Compensation

Between $16.16 - $20.65 per hour based on qualifications and experience.

Conditions of Employment

  • The successful applicant will be required to obtain a clear vulnerable sector police information check.
  • The successful candidate will be required to provide proof of educational and professional credentials.
