This is a fantastic opportunity to become a Member of our CGI-Edmonton team providing leading information technology services to our clients. We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Systems Analyst who has a minimum of 5 years of industry experience in a systems analyst role. Our ideal candidate will possess solid Cobol, JCL and SQL experience to join one of our ongoing Application Management Services teams.

It will challenge the successful candidate to learn the application support role of legacy applications; further develop their analytical skills and gain experience with industry leading methodologies for service support, systems development and quality assurance (ISO 20000, ITIL, CMMI).



Your future duties and responsibilities
• Design, estimating, coding, testing and implementation of complex applications within an Enterprise environment
• Participate in case analysis / design and preparation of detailed specifications of programs where needed
• Work within defined processes and methodologies
• Interact with clients at various levels and manage client expectations in terms of functionality, schedule, and quality
• Articulate alternatives and recommendations to clients; respond to their needs and challenges
• Participate in a rotating schedule of On-Call duties



Required qualifications to be successful in this role
• Minimum 5 years of related application development experience including scoping/estimation, requirements analysis, development, testing and implementation in an Enterprise environment.
• Practical experience in with using a wide variety of programming languages required: Cobol- IMS, Cobol-DB2, JCL, CICS, UI Programming, Multi-threading, Web Services, COM/Win 32 API, OO Concepts, Unit Testing.
• Consistent track record writing, maintaining, reviewing and supporting mainframe legacy applications
• Experience in analysis, design, and development of large and sophisticated applications
• Excellent oral and written communication and documentation skills.
Knowledge of programming standard methodologies.

Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and/or Business or Diploma in IT and/or Business with equivalent IT experience
